Aromatherapy massage

Prices - 60 mins £55, or 90 mins £75

Whether you prefer a lighter or deeper touch, an aromatherapy massage with me will be tailored to suit your needs. The massage oils I choose depend on how you are feeling, what you are looking to get from the massage (for example, relaxation, energising, helping with painful muscles and/or joints) as well as taking into consideration your preferred smells, any allergies you may have to any of the essential oils and anything else you feel important. At times, clients ask for specific oils in their massage.

An aromatherapy massage generally involves flowing movements and where needed, deeper trigger point work into painful/stiff areas. I am mostly asked for full body massage for an hour. During this time, I usually spend longer on the back, neck and shoulders but if there are specific issues elsewhere such as sciatic pain, hip pain, leg stiffness then I can focus where you need the relief.

I do also offer a  30 minute back/neck and shoulder massages and for a real treat, you can book in for 1hr30 full body massage.

If you are pregnant, I would use specific essential oils that are perfectly safe during pregnancy and when too large to lie on the table, I sit you facing the back of a chair, resting your head on the massage table as well as lying you on your side for some of the work if comfortable.

The 30 min option is priced at £25

Hot Stones massage

Price: 60 mins £70

Hot stones massages are only offered during the winter months

The stones are heated in a special heater to around 55 degrees. I always ensure that when using the stones, the heat is just right for you as the client.

Heat does help to relieve muscle tension and pain. The stones bring about deep relaxation and often result in a reduction in stress and better sleep.

The heat held in the stones penetrates deeply allowing the muscles at a deeper layer to respond to massage.

Hot stones can draw out toxins in the body which are eliminated through the body’s natural sweating process. They also improve circulation.

A hot stones massage is NOT recommended if pregnant, if you have diabetes, high blood pressure or if you are on any blood thinning medication.

The Lauterstein method

Price: 60 mins £55

This is a Deep Massage technique, where I am using a “fulcrum” – a touch experience through which you, as the client, mobilise your own vital powers to amplify health. Hardly any and sometimes no oil at all is used as the contact of skin on skin allows the movements to be slower and deeper. There are specific steps to each area where I will work using this technique:

Centering – this refers to me, as the therapist being fully present and engaged and also physically, having just the correct balance in how I use my body/hands to work with you. It also involves working with the breath both as the therapist as well as encouraging you as the client to focus on your breathing during the treatment.

Taking out the looseness – this is the point at which I make physical contact with whichever part of you I am working on, just letting you know this is where I am working.

Taking up the slack – here I press deeper in and start to initiate a slight sense of the direction in which I will travel so that you clearly and strongly feel each movement I make.

Moving in a curve – as I move my arm/hand I follow the natural forms of the body which are mostly not straight lines. You feel that the movement is not mechanical, but exploratory and done with curiosity at what I am finding.

Holding and balancing – during each move, at times I will settle into the area and just hold the point allowing you as the client, to let go from your side, to surrender and release in the area.

Monitor for change – as you let go any tensions, I “listen” to the body and know when to let go – the contact needs to be just the right length of time.

Clearly disengage – after each movement, I disengage clearly and give you a moment to experience the work that has been done. You will integrate and assimilate the work during this time.
